At the heart of the EnergyWise business are the Fitness Trainers themselves. To be fully effective, all our trainers are fully qualified with individual specialist qualifications. All were chosen because of their professionalism, enthusiasm and client-focused attitudes. All show the same drive for education and self improvement in their fitness careers. This is reflected in the unique service and personal attention given by each team member.

Jenny MacLean

Jenny MacLean has a background in dance and a wide variety of sports. Her original degree & work was as a Mechanical Engineer, developing people & presentation skills which have since proved to be invaluable.  She qualified as an Exercise to Music Instructor in early 2001 and worked part time as an aerobics instructor alongside her ‘regular’ career until moving to Edinburgh & meeting Fiona Brown in 2003. Training as a Real Pilates Instructor and an Energywise Personal Trainer in 2004 set her on an exciting new career path from which she hasn’t looked back!

Training and competing as a road & cross country runner awakened an interest in how Pilates could be utilised by sportspeople to improve their performance and reduce risk of injury. Experience as a regular cyclist has also been added to the mix to result in workshops and regular classes working specifically with runners and triathletes since 2007.

In addition, Jenny has continued to develop her Pilates and 1-1 skills and knowledge, whilst helping people of all shapes, sizes and ages to achieve their personal fitness goals. With her enthusiasm, energy and empathy, she believes that exercise is for everyone and is dedicated to helping each individual to develop an exercise routine which they can maintain.

All our programmes are carried out on a one to one basis in a low tech studio. Your trainer will constantly be helping to motivate and inspire you to be the best you can be. We work from the inside out and focus on functional exercises rather than cosmetic fitness to enable you to improve your movement quality for everyday living. That's not to say you won't look fabulous and feel even better!

From the initial consultation which establishes your needs, assesses your current condition and sets your goals, the team will devise a programme specifically to suit you. To achieve long term success, exercise needs to become a habit which fits into your lifestyle. We will help you achieve this, so that you can sustain your new level of fitness long after you have completed our programme. We do not promise instant results as we recognise that you did not get "out of shape" overnight!
