The Realistic Pilates
Programme
gives real results for
every type of body

Combining her extensive
practical experience in the Fitness Industry with the traditional
discipline of Pilates Fiona Brown and her team have devised an
accessible, dynamic and contemporary approach to Pilates Body
Conditioning. We are currently offering a comprehensive
timetable of Realistic Pilates Classes (see below)
Pilates
(Pih-lah-tees)
has become the latest buzz word within the fitness industry, although
it was developed over 80 years ago by Joseph Pilates as a method of
body conditioning. This unique system of stretching and strengthening,
originally the preserve of dancers and professionals, is actually a
very effective form of exercise, helping the ordinary person with
every day functional activities, easing movement and significantly
improving posture.
At first glance,
Pilates may seem to be a gentle and easy form of exercise, however, its combination of strengthening and mobility moves
produces a very intense and highly beneficial workout. High fitness
levels or great suppleness are not a necessary prerequisite of
Realistic
Pilates. In fact, Realistic
Pilates aims to enhance both of these
conditions, whilst strengthening the 'core muscles' within the torso.
Realistic Pilates not only develops the control of breathing but also the
co-ordination and stability of the body, changing muscle lengths and
relaxing and rebalancing the body. It is particularly beneficial in
relieving chronic back pain where the problem is postural. For
rehabilitation after injury or for more individual attention, one to
one sessions are strongly recommended.

The Realistic
Pilates
Team are all fully qualified, with a collective thirty years experience in the Health &
Fitness industry. We have devised an original and fun approach to
Pilates, making classes more realistic and therefore more accessible, to the general public,
offering both individual and group coaching.
We ask our clients to
attend a one off induction class, thereafter booking their classes
in blocks as, in our experience, it takes a minimum of 6 weeks for
their bodies to begin to learn the new habits required to develop
better posture.....and a lifetime to maintain them! In a
nutshell, Realistic Pilates teaches you how to align your body, using
your muscles in the way they were designed to be used , rather than
the way they have learned to be used.
As a direct result of
our innovative approach, clients can also experience improvements in
confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness resulting in a new zest
for life!
